Great Blue is a harmonic tremolo plugin, with options for more far-out modulation types. Play with the parameters to get traditional tremolo, harmonic tremolo, and dramatic filter sweeps. Try it out on guitar, synths, vocals, a spacy reverb bus, or whatever’s lying around.
LFO Section
- Rate: set the modulation rate. 0Hz–20Hz (at 0Hz, the Lfo is disabled).
- Shape buttons: set the Lfo shape to sine, or triangle wave (or both simultaneously).
Filter Section
- Freq: adjust the frequency at which the input signal is split into high-pass and low-pass bands. 0Hz–20kHz. This is the core of the harmonic tremolo effect.
- Blend: adjust the relative volumes of the high-passed and low-passed signals. At max, all you’ll hear is the high-passed signal.
- Sweep: adjust the depth of crossover frequency modulation.
Trem Section
- Depth: set the amount of modulation applied to the tone bias. This is the heart of the harmonic tremolo sound, alternating between a heavy high-pass and a heavy low-pass.
- Mode buttons: set the Tremolo Mode to either traditional, where the entire input signal is affected by the LFO at once, or harmonic, where high-pass and low-pass bands are modulated out of phase with each other.
Mix Section
- Blend: how much of the affected signal do you want to blend in with the input? At max, you will hear only the affected signal.
- Out: final output gain. Unity is at exactly the halfway point of the slider; give it a boost if the effect sounds like it’s sapping some volume from the part.
